Hello everyone and welcome back to another blog post on ~Foodie with a Passion~! Happy Tuesday everyone and I hope you’ve had a fantastic start to the week. For todays post, I went to the Asian market in the area to stock up on a few things to get me started at the new house. And I got a care package from Japan too. So before we get started, remember to click subscribe so you don’t miss another Foodie Fun 🤩
Alrighty! So here was the haul!

- Daikon Radish – I’ve already made some miso soup with this
- Bok Choy – for some side dishes
- Nappa Cabbage – I made a beef and cabbage stir fry couple nights ago
- Reduced Sodium Miso Paste – at least they had my brand but for an outrageous price. The expiration lasts til November so I’m definitely making it last
- Shrimp Shumai – I love having these around for an extra space filler in bento boxes
- Shirataki Noodles – for my braised meat and potatoes
- Tofu Skins – I can use this for mixed rice, miso soup, sushi etc
- Soba, Somen and Udon Noodles – I got all my noodle collections 😃
- Panko Breadcrumbs – and breadcrumbs for when I make some extra crispy stuff

- Sliced Shiitake – I like these slice ones so I don’t have to do the slicing myself. They can go in mixed rice, miso soup, stir fries etc
- Dried Daikon Radish – this makes an excellent side dish and plenty of fiber
- Dashi Packs – sometimes I take shortcuts to make soup
- Assorted Furikake – for seasoning rice
- Dried Seaweed – another delicious side dishe I can make with fish cake, carrots and shiitake
- Mayonnaise – I love this stuff and I can’t get this brand in my new area
- Pancake Mix – I can only get these online now or directly from Japan
- Salmon Flakes – for rice balls
- Nori Seaweed – to wrap rice balls
And there we have it! Let me know in the comments below what your comfort food of your culture and until then…signing off!
