Asian Market Haul and Care Package from Japan!

Hello everyone and welcome back to another blog post on ~Foodie with a Passion~! Happy Tuesday everyone and I hope you’ve had a fantastic start to the week. For todays post, I went to the Asian market in the area to stock up on a few things to get me started at the new house. And I got a care package from Japan too. Alrighty! So here was the haul!

Asian Haul
  • Daikon Radish – I’ve already made some miso soup with this
  • Bok Choy – for some side dishes
  • Nappa Cabbage – I made a beef and cabbage stir fry couple nights ago
  • Reduced Sodium Miso Paste – at least they had my brand but for an outrageous price. The expiration lasts til November so I’m definitely making it last
  • Shrimp Shumai – I love having these around for an extra space filler in bento boxes
  • Shirataki Noodles – for my braised meat and potatoes
  • Tofu Skins – I can use this for mixed rice, miso soup, sushi etc
  • Soba, Somen and Udon Noodles – I got all my noodle collections 😃
  • Panko Breadcrumbs – and breadcrumbs for when I make some extra crispy stuff
Care Package
  • Sliced Shiitake – I like these slice ones so I don’t have to do the slicing myself. They can go in mixed rice, miso soup, stir fries etc
  • Dried Daikon Radish – this makes an excellent side dish and plenty of fiber
  • Dashi Packs – sometimes I take shortcuts to make soup
  • Assorted Furikake – for seasoning rice
  • Dried Seaweed – another delicious side dishe I can make with fish cake, carrots and shiitake
  • Mayonnaise – I love this stuff and I can’t get this brand in my new area
  • Pancake Mix – I can only get these online now or directly from Japan
  • Salmon Flakes – for rice balls
  • Nori Seaweed – to wrap rice balls
