Alrighty. So let’s get one thing clear: I really love cooking with alcohol. It enhances flavor, cooks things down faster due to a lower boiling point and overall lots to experiment with. Speaking of experimenting, here was my boozy experiment I wanted to share today.

I took the basic Betty Crocker Fudge Brownie Mix and made an adult version of it. We were gifted some Kahlua in one of our wedding gifts and I read somewhere that you can make Kahlua brownies by substituting the 3 tablespoons of water with 3 tablespoons of Kahlua. So I was curious and gave it a try. Again, the only change is to sub the water for Kahlua and follow the rest of the recipe on the back of the box.
I poured the batter into a sprayed 8×8 pan and topped the brownies with some M&Ms. These went into the oven at 325°F for 45-50 min on convection mode.

I promise you that I didn’t take a bite when I tested the doneness of the brownies. I used a fork rather than a toothpick and the brownie sank after I pulled it out of the oven. Overall, I didn’t taste much of the Kahlua so I may increase it by a tad bit next time I try this but I’ve always been successful with boxed brownie mix so I’ve never actually made brownies from scratch. But it tastes good and that’s all it matters.
Let me know in the comments below what alcohol you like cooking with and what else I should try with Kahlua. Until then… signing off!
